I’m an artist!

Tuesday, May 23rd, 2006

There is definate truth that the environment a child is raised in does have an effect. Here’s proof…my son, who is 3, wanted to paint today.
“Mom, I need to show Noemi (an artist friend of ours) my painting. I’m a painter. We need to go to church so I can show her. […]

Tea Leaves

Tea Leaves
There is a car alarm that will not stop
Disturbing, grating on an atmosphere
Created by a small white cup of tea
Whose fragrance soothes and leads me by the hand
To time’s past memory of you and leaves
That fall…now fortune tells a different tale…

by Hector Tobar.

Hector Tobar is a Pulitzer prize winning journalist for his coverage of the LA riots in the early ’90’s. Tobar is a […]

Trip to the ER

Wednesday, May 10th, 2006

Aiden found something in the back yard last night. He only wanted his ear to hold it for him he said. Needless to say we ended up taking a trip to the ER to see if the doctor could remove a small blue ball stuck in Aiden’s ear. After filing out all […]

boys will play

Tuesday, May 9th, 2006

So I’m here listening to The Killers - I just love them. Maybe it’s the nostalgic 80’s riffs and vocals, but they’re awesome. Aiden is dancing like a wild man.
I had my shower the other day. It was beautiful! I can’t believe I’m having a girl. So much pink. […]

The Rock Star

Tuesday, May 2nd, 2006

The Rock Star
Two eyes stare out from vacant orbs
Translucent, hidden under shades
Of disillusion and what fades
Beneath the heat of glaring lights
Illuminating everything—
A loving family, good schools,
Suburban life littered with rules
He always followed even with
The purple hair dyed spotted like
A leopard in the eighth grade. Down
The drain the colors spinning round
And round, white porcelain urine […]
